Because our perfumes are the footnotes of our respective stories and the ones we have started writing together. 
 
We see life as a book, as a sequence of pages, as a story told across several chapters that is written as time passes. We can never truly predict what will happen, even when reading the epilogue... Unless we dive into the pages of the book, identify with the characters, immerse ourselves in the descriptions, and rely on the footnotes when the terms are unfamiliar. 
 
Each phase of life corresponds to a chapter in the book. Sometimes it’s a continuation of the previous one, sometimes a complete break from it. Sometimes it’s the unexpected arrival of a character after hundreds of pages. Sometimes it’s the sudden loss of another, even though we have not turned many.
